Bringing Black Women in Comedy Into the Spotlight

Client: Black Women In Comedy

Industry: Entertainment and Mental Health Nonprofit

The Objective

Black Women in Comedy (BWIC) is a non-profit on a mission to elevate underrepresented voices by creating inclusive spaces and providing resources for Black women in the comedy community. But with an outdated website and scattered brand identity, BWIC struggled to gain visibility and communicate its vision.

BWIC turned to Bloom Creative to undergo a complete visual transformation. Through our in-depth consulting and brand discovery journey, Bloom Creative uncovered the raw authenticity and resilient spirit at BWIC's core.

Our Solution

The creative journey began with collaborative visioning sessions, where we immersed ourselves in BWIC's stories, challenges, and aspirations for the future of comedy. From there, we crafted a proud, unapologetic brand identity embodying the radiant joy and strength of the brilliant Black women BWIC represents.

BWIC's new look pulses with vitality, featuring a custom logo mark combining bold jewel tones and a clean sans-serif font. Color combinations of rich amethyst and golden yellows evoke royalty and resilience. Custom graphics offer symbolic references to microphones, spotlights, and the traditional comedic masks of humor and tragedy.

Bloom also led the design of an entirely new website experience as the marquee digital hub. The site immerses visitors in BWIC's empowering energy through energetic animation, imagery celebrating diverse comedic talent, and intuitive paths to get involved. Within the site, we also built a page for audiences to learn more about the June 2024 Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest in NYC.

To further amplify BWIC's voice, Bloom created a multimedia brand toolkit including presentation templates, print collateral, social media assets, and a visionary fundraising pitch deck to secure financial support.

Key Outcomes

In the first 3 months since launching the rebrand, BWIC has already seen:

  • New NYC comedy partners for the 2024 festival

  • Increase in overall website traffic and engagement on social media

  • $2,000+ raised through activated donors and sponsors

"Thank you so much for everything. I trusted you, and you made my heart sing! I love the vibe and colors, you listened to my fears and delivered a winning look that had my peers asking me ‘Who did your website?’ Of course, I said ‘Bloom Creative did it!’" shares founder Joanna Briley. "This is what listening to your client looks like.”

With their newly radiant presence, Black Women in Comedy is center stage and shining brighter than ever before.
